Motability Operations is a leading UK wholesale vehicle retailer, supplying over 200k cars a year to dealers. It also runs mobility schemes to nearly 650k disabled customers.
I led the initial design and direction exploration, working closely with their marketing and UX team to craft a new design system and host of features which was built out in Storybook and implemented a headless Contentful CMS.
Although widely used by dealers, Motability wanted to replace their legacy B2B commerce site with a 'best-in-breed' user experience, focusing on speed, personalisation and accessibility.
Collaborating with both partners and internal departments we scaled a cross-functional agile team to deliver an MVP with an AA accessibility rating, without disrupting existing revenue.
Once the foundations of the atomic library and direction were in place, I worked on designing up the platforms core areas. I moved into a leadership role to manage the team working on their auction side while I personally focused on innovation and the 'art of the possible' with workshops and concepts to keep MFL's platform extremely useful and accessible to the end customer.
The site was designed using AWS cloud and composable commerce architecture. It allows dealers to buy vehicles at pace with 2-click purchase functionality and provides real time stock updates, back-office management and reporting functions.
Some key features were added on their roadmap such as the ability to have brand pages and model pages all with real data lead insgihts for ROI and how sought after the vehciles are.
Another area of focus was around the dealerships statistics page, with insights for the users and customisability to filter only things they were interested in, all to speed up the buying process. Can't get much quicker than two clicks to buy a vehicle though.
